CNC Router

Phoenix

Houston Hobbies would like to get into the small fabrication market with unique CNC cut parts to serve the hobby community. To help reach that goal, we purchased the plans to build the machine pictured above from John C. Kleinbauer's website - http://www.crankorgan.com - If you decide to purchase his plans, please mention you were referred by Houston Hobbies.

Specifications

Gantry style hobby CNC machine for RC modelers. The machine will cut Balsa, Basswood and Pine at 8 to 12 inches per minute using a 1/8" bit. It will cut 1/4" high quality Plywood (no knots) in one pass at 6" per minute with a 1/8" bit. The machine has a 9" X 24" usable cutting area.

Electronics and Controller Board

The electronics to control the CNC Phoenix Router were purchased from HobbyCNC (http:\\www.hobbycnc.com). I decided to involve my Dad in this project as he likes to solder and does a much better job then me. I went with a complete package so I would not have to hunt around for all the parts. My Dad has taken some pictures of what he received - Controller Pictures - that you can see. He will document the build process as well. Thanks Dad!
