Super Reaper

Quick build sport jet model!
Wing Span - 72" / Wing Area - 1650 sq. inches
Length - 59" / Weight, ready to fly, less fuel - 16 lbs
Engine - 10 to 20 lbs thrust turbine

JR's Recommended Setup
Canards: + 30mm / - 25mm
Aileron: + / - 20mm
Elevator: + / - 10mm
CG: 21.5"

Keep in mind I setup my Reaper like a Delta type jet with elevons too. I originally had the CG set to Mick's recommendation ( 530mm from the back) but it was very pitch sensitive. So I moved it forward to 21.5" from the back. Also, I add some downward thrust to the turbine which seems to also make it fly better at higher speeds. Check also our main fixed gear upgrade found under Jet Products, Super Reaper on the left navigation menu.

Misc Notes & Updates

This page is intended to give details on the Super Reaper turbine trainer kit produced by Mick Reeves models. I will update this page from ordering to flying as I go through the process. I choose this particular model because of price, ease of building, and comments from other owners. I have a RAM 750P turbine that I plan on using for power and Mick said I should have no problems going vertical just after take off. Mick's Super Reaper is currently powered with an 18 lb thrust turbine and he is able to go vertical just after take off.

9-10-04 - Sadly, my Super Reaper crashed after getting a radio glitch while attending the Greater Southwest Jet Rally in Waco, Tx and on my second flight of the day, shortly after take off I lost all radio control inputs. It did that ballistic arc and smashed into the ground. The front 29" of the Super Reaper was completely destroyed, but amazingly everything from the main wings back is OK! I'm starting the rebuilding process as I really like the way the Super Reaper flies. It should be ready soon.

8-07-04 - Tired of the bounced landings, I had some custom made aluminum gear made for my Super Reaper. After installing the new upgraded gear, the Super Reaper no lands without worry. I suggest all Super Reaper owners to purchase a set and start really having some fun! Look under Jet Product menu on the left to purchase the gear.

4-16-04 - With help from David Reid, my Super Reaper successfully completes the maiden flight. You can watch the video under the Video area using the navigation menu on the left.

4-15-04 - Finally after prolonging the completion of my Super Reaper due to my job travels I completed the Super Reaper and hope to maiden her at the upcoming Austin Jet Rally in Austin, Tx. April 16 - 18th.

3-30-02 - Received order confirmation via U.S. mail from Mick Reeves models. Included credit card and shipping information.

3-26-02 - Spoke to Mick Reeves over the phone to place an order for 1 Super Reaper kit. Mick was very nice and personable on the phone and answered a few questions concerning construction, flying, and overall details I had about the kit.
